According to the head of China Railway Corporation, by the end of 2018, 10 new lines, including Chengde-Shenyang section, Xinmin-Tongliao section, Harbin-Mudanjiang section, Jinan-Qingdao section, Qingdao-Yancheng section, Hangzhou-Huangshan section, Nanping-Longyan section, Huaihua-Hengyang section, Tongren-Yuping section, Chengdu-Ya'an section, will be opened and operated. The new high-speed railway has a business mileage of about 2500 kilometers. Fuxin, Chaoyang, Chengde, Tongliao, Mudanjiang, Rizhao, Lianyungang, Yancheng, Ya'an and Lijiang are the first cities to start trains. Railway departments have arranged for 276.5 pairs of new EMUs.
With the opening of these new lines, from 0:00 on January 5, 2019, the national railway will implement a new train diagram. After mapping, a total of 2847.5 pairs of daily trains, 221.5 pairs of weekend trains and 382.5 pairs of peak trains are operated on the national railways, corresponding to 2847.5 pairs of daily trains, 3069 pairs of weekend trains and 3451.5 pairs of peak trains on the operational chart. The transport capacity of high-speed railway is about 9% higher than before mapping.
After the new line was put into operation, the running time of passenger trains between some cities was further reduced. The whole compression time from Harbin to Mudanjiang is 3 hours, from Beijing to Mudanjiang is 8 hours and 57 minutes, from Mudanjiang to Beijing is 6 hours and 57 minutes, from Tongliao to Shenyang is 2 hours and 21 minutes, from Shenyang to Chengde is 8 hours and 23 minutes, and from Beijing to Qingdao is 58 minutes.
